VIA Methodology — IEXS

Most decisions don't fail
because of poor execution.
They fail because the
wrong problem
is being solved.

VIA verifies whether the problem you are about to solve is actually the right one, before committing time, money, or reputation.

VIA
The problem VIA solves

Three situations where
the cost has already begun

These are not hypothetical. They are the conversations that precede costly decisions no one should make without prior verification.

01

You executed well, but results never came

The strategy was flawless, the team committed, the budget respected. And yet, nothing changed. The question no one asked: were you certain that was the actual problem? If the answer is "we assumed so," VIA intervenes exactly there.

02

Two different diagnoses, one single decision

Different areas see the same problem through different lenses. The decision is stuck because each diagnosis leads to a different solution. VIA takes no sides — it verifies which diagnosis has real evidence behind it and which is mere interpretation.

03

They tried before. It didn't work.

The same solution, adjusted. The same problem, renamed. The cycle repeats because the real cause was never identified. Every failed attempt is evidence that the initial diagnosis was wrong — and no one questioned it.

VIA
What is VIA

A verification mechanism,
not a consulting service

"VIA validates whether the problem about to be solved is truly the right problem, before committing resources to a solution."

No solutions proposed

VIA does not recommend what to do. It only verifies whether what is planned makes sense against the actual problem.

No conflict of interest

By not implementing, VIA has no incentive for the problem to be one thing or another. Its only goal is verification.

Delivers a verdict, not a report

The result is a direct conclusion: Proceed, Adjust, or Stop. No ambiguity. No escape.

"Executing the right solution on the wrong problem is an organization's most expensive waste."

— Core principle of VIA
VIA applies when:
A concrete decision is about to be executed
Relevant resources are at stake: money, time, or reputation
There is no reasonable margin for error
The internal diagnosis generates doubts or resistance
A similar solution has already been tried without clear results
08
How it works

The process
in 8 steps

VIA operates as a sequential filter applied during a structured conversation. The order is strict: each step depends on the previous one. It requires a present interlocutor — it cannot be executed on documents.

01
Declared problem
What do they say is wrong?
The official account is collected without intervening. Objective: capture the exact version as it is perceived and communicated.
02
Evidence
What facts actually support it?
Verifiable facts are separated from interpretations and assumptions. If most are assumptions, the problem is an unsupported hypothesis.
03
Gap
Where does the logic not hold?
The account is contrasted with the evidence. The gap between what is declared and what is observed is VIA's central finding.
04
Causality
Why hasn't it been solved before?
The causal explanation is evaluated for consistency. If the problem persists, something in the causal chain is not being seen.
05
Solution limit
What will NOT change even if it works?
The real scope is defined. If what is critical does not change even when the solution works perfectly, the decision may be irrelevant.
06
Validity condition
What would have to be true for it to work?
Each condition must be measurable, verifiable, and binary. If it cannot be verified, the decision cannot be evaluated.
07
Verdict
Does the problem hold up?
Proceed, Adjust, or Stop. A logical conclusion derived from the analysis, not an interpretive opinion.
08
Justification
What is the exact reason for the verdict?
A single sentence. No ambiguity. It connects what is being attempted with what the available evidence shows.

VIA
The result

Three possible verdicts

The verdict is not an open recommendation. It is a conclusion with verifiable justification.

The final decision and its consequences are the responsibility of whoever executes it.

Proceed
Solid logic

The causal logic holds, the evidence is verifiable, and the proposed solution addresses the correct problem.

The declared problem matches the observed problem.
Adjust
Pending condition

Partial inconsistencies exist that do not invalidate the decision, but require correction before execution.

Adjust sin condición específica no es un dictamen: es una postergación.
Stop
Incorrect basis

The declared problem does not hold up, the evidence contradicts it, or the solution does not address what is actually happening.

The gap between declared and observed problem is structural, not partial.

Frequently asked questions

What people usually ask before booking

Yes. VIA applies to any relevant decision, regardless of the size of the organization. The criterion is not size: it is that a concrete decision with resources at stake exists — whether a company, public institution, NGO, or individual decision-maker.
Un dictamen de Stop es el resultado más valioso que VIA puede entregar. Significa que se evitó comprometer recursos en una solución incorrecta. La decisión final siempre es del cliente; VIA entrega la justificación, no la orden.
No. VIA operates before any implementation consultant. It is a prior and complementary step. A good consultant should value having the problem correctly defined before beginning work.
Between 60 and 90 minutes in most cases. The written verdict is delivered within 48 hours following the session.
None in particular. VIA does not require prior documents. The session begins with a simple question: what are you about to do and why? The process builds from there.
VIA does not guarantee business results. It guarantees rigor in the verification process and a verdict justified by the available evidence. Results depend on what the client decides to do with that verdict.

Every week I publish a reflection on decisions, diagnostics, and strategic thinking. No empty motivation. No generic content. Only applied analysis for those making decisions with something at stake.
